City Hall assigns a land plot to the Basque Government to build 66 rental apartments for young people on Zorrotzaurre

14/12/2018

The Regional Government Head of Housing, Iñaki Arriola, and the Mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto, yesterday signed an agreement whereby City Hall assigned a 5,800 sq. m. plot (AD-1), lying on the right bank of Deusto Canal,  for the Departament of the Environment, Territorial Planning and Housing to proceed with construction of  a building containing 66 rental apartments for young people, with a 4-year delivery period.

This accommodation will be aimed at young people aged from 23 to 35 and registered residents in Bilbao, for a tenancy that will not exceed five years. Whilst living in the apartment, beneficiaries will pay monthly rent that will vary depending on the size of the dwelling and the household’s income.

For construction of the new building, which will have a singular design and be located just in front of the Basabe residential group, the Housing Department will call an open public tender process in 2019. The apartments should be delivered by the end of 2022.
