Ramón Barea, prizewinner in the 2017 edition of the Sabino Arana Fundazioa awards

The actor, director and theatre producer from Bilbao Ramón Barea is one of the prizewinners in the 29th edition of the annual awards the Sabino Arana Fundazioa gives out to personalities, institutions and groups for their outstanding devotion and service vocation to society.

The prize awarded to Ramón Barea, founder member of Pabellón Nº 6 (a project devoted to the performing arts, located in Zorrotzaurre), aims to acknowledge “ his long career, his prolific professional trajectory and his commitment to the performing arts, adaptations and performances of great theatre works and authors, over one hundred feature films, shorts, television series, documentaries, etc.”, stated Irune Zuluaga, director of the Sabino Arana Fundazioa when announcing this year’s prizewinners.

The other prizewinners in the 2017 edition of these awards are the Gerediaga Elkartea association, the Koopera-Innovación Social y Ambiental co-operative, the Basque pelota player (pelotari) Abel Barriola and the No es no-Ez beti da ez campaign against gender violence on women.

The award ceremony will take place on 28 January next in a gala to be held in the Arriaga Theatre.
